Manitoba Buckskin, an A.C.E. member and great resource is offering a Brain Tanning Workshop on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 1354 Spruce Street in Winnipeg. The cost for the all day event is $75 and includes lunch. They tan the hides using all natural materials and processes: brains, smoke, water and work. They will be going through the entire process, start to finish, in a one day crash course workshop. There will be opportunities for hands on practice at every step of the process. They have room for about 10-12 more people, but are at their limit for kids 12 and under. They have simplified the application, but the deadline is December 17, 2020 with no exceptions and no incomplete applications.

Our first workshop will be "Grandfather Teachings" with Alison Cox. It is being held on October 7 & 8 at the beautiful Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Education Centre, 119 Sutherland Avenue. Come for a nosh at 5pm and stay for the Teaching. We should be done by 8. The cost is $25/$20 for A.C.E. Members to cover dinner. We are offering our Hand Drum Making Workshop during two upcoming Saturdays. Both Saturdays we will be starting at 9 am and finishing with a lunch around 1pm. Watch for the dates to be announced shortly We are waiting for confirmation for our Star Blanket , Skirt Making, Feast Bundles and Feasting Workshops. Keep an eye open for the dates and times which will be announced shortly, If you are interested in helping out with the Conference and Education Awards Banquet please come by Applebees at Grant Park on Thursday, October 1, 2021 at 4:30pm.
Our Conference chair, Renee McGurry will be hosting and has loads of information to share. We are looking for willing hands and great ideas. We hope to see you there! Fall is fast approaching and we are looking to you, our members, relatives and friends, to help us plan our slate of Cultural Workshops.

It will only take a few minutes and it will ensure we provide you with the kinds of experiences you are looking for. We will be having our last meeting before the summer break on Monday, June 8, 2021 at 4:15pm at The Circle of Life Thunderbird House, 715 Main Street. In the fall we will be able to add Skype and Conference Calling to members who want to participate but can't physically attend. Read the next newsletter for details! We are finalizing the plans for the A.C.E. Journeys Retreat, a five day land-based workshop for educators and students.
It's being held at the Sandy-Saulteaux Centre, just outside Beausejour. Manitoba from July 10-15, 2015. Registration will open at the end of April. With only 20 spaces available, the Retreat will fill up fast. The Summer Institutes are ramping up as well. The Peru Travel Study Course from July 30-August 18 caught my eye.
