Shane Bostrom
Shane Bostrom grew up in the Metis community of Manigotogan, Manitoba, located on the east side of Lake Winnipeg. He graduated from the Wanipigow School located on the Hollow Water First Nation. At the age of 18, Shane moved to Winnipeg and after completing a year of university began working full time for the Royal Bank of Canada. During his tenure at RBC, Shane learned to speak French and completed a BA and BEd at the University of Winnipeg. In 2010 Shane left the RBC and took on the role of coordinator of the Standing Tall program with the Manitoba Metis Federation. After two years in the role he moved to his present position as teacher at the Louis Riel Institute Adult Learning Centre where he teaches English, computers, Metis and Family Studies.
Debbie Cielen
Debbie Cielen manages the Indigenous Spiritual Care Services Program at Life’s Journey. Debbie Cielen has been involved in traditional ceremonies and cultural teachings since 1994. Debbie is a pipe carrier and has Sundance for 14 years.

Carin Crowe is the regional representative for KAIROS Canada.
Louise Duncan
Louise Duncan is the Director of Student Services for Prairie Rose School Division. She holds a Bachelor of Education Degree & two Post Baccalaureate Certificates in Special Education. She is certified in Threat Assessment, ASIST, WEVAS, Compassion Fatigue, and Positive Behaviour Intervention.

Paul Laroque
Father of two and grandfather of two boys. Educator for 40 years having taught K – 12 as a Physical Education Teacher, Classroom teacher (7-9), Special Education Teacher, Resource Teacher and presently as a Guidance Counsellor and Behavioural Support Teacher in Centennial School in Lac Du Bonnet. Active member of the Sunrise Teachers Association as the Professional Development Chair for 16 years.
Active member of the Aboriginal Circle of Educators. Active member of the Sunrise School Division Aboriginal Educators Committee.
Dr. Mary LeMaître
Dr. Mary LeMaître is a professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Winnipeg. She holds a B.A. Honours in French with Cree and Spanish, a pre--Masters in Speech Pathology, a Masters in Medieval French Literature, a PhD in French (18th & 20th century) and Catholic Studies and specializes in the analysis of social discourse. Her research focusses on colonial discourse in Canada, that is, stereotypes about Indigenous Canadians, what they are, where they come from, how they affect our relationship, and how we can change them and she is currently writing a book on the topic. Dr. LeMaître has created an Indigenous Requirement Course for her department entitled Decolonizing Voices which looks at colonial discourse and colonial structures in Canada and Indigenous works as a response to them.
Dr. Betty Lynxleg
Dr. Betty Lynxleg is a member of Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve, Treaty 4. Dr. Betty has been the field of education for over 25 years working in various positions throughout her career. Being a strong advocate for First Nations education, Dr. Betty has been with the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre (MFNERC) for the last 13 years in numerous positions and is currently a Research Facilitator working on the development of a First Nations Curriculum Framework for locally controlled Band schools.
Kim Mackey
Kim Mackey works as a School Social Worker in Prairie Rose School Division. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & a Bachelor of Social Work. She has been trained in the Circle of Courage, Compassion Fatigue, Positive Behavior Intervention, Play Therapy and WEVAS.
Debra Mayer, MA, ECE III
Debra Mayer, MA, ECE III is an early childhood education consultant with Manitoba Education and Training where she promotes a play-based pedagogical approach to literacy, numeracy and the Kindergarten curriculum. With over 35 years of experience in the early childhood field, Debra has worked within the non-profit and public sectors, taught for both the University of Winnipeg’s Faculty of Education and for Red River College’s ECE Program, and worked as an early childhood educator, director, and nursery school teacher. Debra has facilitated workshops and offered keynotes that have inspired and energized early childhood folks in every province of Canada and the Yukon, as well as the US, Israel and Jamaica.
Ken McCorkle
Ken McCorkle B.A., B.Ed., B.Th., P.B.D.E., M.A. is a long-time advocate for Indigenous education, having worked in the areas of curriculum development, student services, secondary, post-secondary and adult education. He is the author of Indigenous Studies 30S: The Consequences and Triumphs of Indigenous Philosophy, as well as numerous other articles and publications. He is an active member of ACE and is a frequent speaker at a range of conferences. Ken currently is an instructor at Empower Education Centre.
Tania Munroe
Tania Munroe is the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Perspectives Consultant with Manitoba Education and Training. She has experience teaching in the north. She has taught at the middle years and senior high levels. She has also worked in post secondary environments in roles such as Advisor, Counsellor, Coordinator, and Instructor. She has worked with Manitoba schools to transition Indigenous students into high school and into public schools. Along the way, Tania has gathered best practices to develop strong relationships within the classroom and in the school.

Caitlin Thomas-Dunn started as a practicum student with the Spectrum Connections Program before joining the agency as a Clinical Case Manager with the Women’s Outreach Program in 2014. She has worked with Life’s Journey’s Addictions Program since Autumn 2016 and is involved with other projects around the agency.

Wanbdi Wakita has devoted three decades to working with men in prison, is a gifted counselor, captivating storyteller and presenter. Wanbdi is often described as gentle and soft spoken, a man of integrity and profound wisdom. He possesses a rare breadth of traditional and culture knowledge which he combines with a message of healing and unity between all nations. Wanbdi Wakita is Creator’s gift to a struggling people
